Talk about a GOLD MINE. You no longer have to be bored in the house & in the house bored. Restaurants, fitness studios, bars, churches, retailers, and more are starting to leverage the outdoors.

Most importantly, MOVIE THEATERS & MALLS ARE HOSTING DRIVE-IN MOVIES. Rooftop Cinema Club, Irvine Spectrum, The Lot, 2nd & PCH, and others, are offering drive-in movies and even drive-in concerts & comedy shows. Check out their websites for specific dates and showings. Activated Events also sells tickets for Irvine & Westminster Drive-Ins (this is the one I used!).

LA friends:

1. Street Food Cinema (Calabasas & Arcadia) - $20 per car!!!!!

2. Hollywood Legion Theater - $65 per car + Each ticket includes unlimited popcorn, one soda and one candy for each passenger

3. LA Zoo - $100 per car

OC friends:

1. Irvine Spectrum - $40 per car

2. Westminster - $40 per car

SD friends:

1. South Bay Drive-in - $10 per adult, $1 per child

Friendly reminder - we live in Southern California and we can enjoy the great outdoors ALL YEAR ROUND. CAN I GET AN AMEN! HAPPY HOLIDAYS, who doesn't want to watch The Grinch cozied up on the big screen?!

Rally your babe, buds, or take yourself on a date! Drive a hatchback, SUV, suburban, or ideally a truck would be best for viewing purposes. Clear your trunk, pack it with a comforter, blankets and pillows, and get cuddly! Check out this blog on fire wines under $10 to bring too. I arrived an hour before showtime, in order to give us enough time to park, order, and pick up food. We were already near the back so I suggest pulling up closer to when doors open rather than showtime.

Here's the budget friendly breakdown (rough estimate from the Irvine Spectrum Drive-In):

$35 each for date night or bring a friend (or depending on the size of your car bring a few) to make it cost effective!

If you aren't SoCal based and don't have a drive-in nearby, don't fret! I have a budget-friendly solution for you too! Amazon sells the most amazing mini projector where you can host your own drive-in, stay-in-bed, driveway movies at home.

I personally own this projector and it's 8 million times better than an actual TV. In fact, my TV is under my bed and I project everything instead. Built-in, LOUD speakers, remote, carrying case, and multiple inputs (I just plug the HDMI into my laptop), 1080p support, the whole 9 yards.
