Working from home is actually my worst nightmare, the same day over & over. Eep! If you’re a major extrovert like me & feed off of peoples energy in the office - this ones for you!

I genuinely work from some of these spots throughout the week. They're super great so no matter which you're closest to, you'll be in love. I'm excited for you to focus up in these amazing locations! If you dooo see me at any of the spots, come say hello!!

Obviously we are in a pandemic and both seating and hours (or open even) is uncertain, so be sure to check each locations Instagram for updates prior to heading over. While the Wifi is free (& we are broke bishes), don't forget to support the business as often as you can for using the facility.

These are my favorite places to work in SoCal that offer free wifi, outdoor seating & an amazing atmosphere:

1. 2nd & PCH

Long Beach, CA

I have an unhealthy obsession with 2nd & PCH, it's the cutest center I've ever been in. From modern, vibrant patterns on the walls to a fire pit seating area - it's a free wifi DREAM. Also the restaurants & shops are to die for, Free People, Lululemon, TOCAYA ORGANICA (coming soon), Urban Outfitters, Whole Foods, & so many more. If you're nearby, definitely start here!

  • first 2 hours free to park

  • no public outlets, but there are some on the walls

  • fire pits & great ambiance

  • lots of seating (couches, tables, picnic benches, solo chairs)

  • ocean & marina views from the second floor

  • masks enforced unless seated (I think)

  • Parking Garage is an AMAZING photo op at sunset (you know you want to)

  • Fast casual to more formal dining - Ola has the best margs, Tocaya is phenomenal healthy Mexican cuisine, Ample Hill Creamery + Boba Guys is an awesome treat, Cafe Luxxe has fire coffee, & whole foods is whole foods.

2. The Lab Anti-Mall

Costa Mesa, CA

Another personal fav! This vintage, chic outdoor mall is extremely aesthetic and has a perfect work from home vibe. There are always people on laptops, studying, catching up with friends, etc. They also have music playing & it's actually good music so it's fine if you forget headphones.

Some of the restaurants will even serve you from the main courtyard! Nook coffee bar is an all time best, the workers are super nice & fun, and the gluten-free cookies are KILLERRR. They also have vintage shops, a sister outdoor mall across the street called 'The Camp' with a great pilates studio, vegan (and non-vegan) restaurants, bomb AF donuts, and an urban outfitters!

  • free parking

  • very few outlets

  • lots of seating & always a place to sit

  • great ambiance

  • coffee shop, restaurants, & shops

  • music outdoors

3. Pacific City

Huntington Beach, CA

When I was wrapping up my senior year of college online - I worked at Pacific City nearly every single day. There are so many great spots to work - the LOT 579 (not sure if this is open due to COVID) is an indoor cafeteria-style dining hall, literal ocean views in the center courtyard, and a bench that sits facing the iconic sunsets. The restaurants are great - Bear Flag is amazing, best BBQ around from Old Crow, they also have Lemonade, Philz Coffee, & Bungalow (RIP).

  • first 2 hours free to park w/ validation

  • outlets in LOT 579

  • coffee shops, restaurants, & great retailers

  • ocean views

  • so many places to sit, indoors & outdoors

4. Westfield UTC

La Jolla, CA

San Diego bishes I have you covered! Here's a great spot to work from with free wifi & outdoor seating. With a diverse range of retailers and spots to post up, you'll release your work from home tension in no time.

  • first 2 hours free to park

  • free wifi

  • outdoor seating to work

  • no public outlets

  • coffee shops, restaurants, shopping & events

  • seasonally decorated

5. Westfield Century City

Culver City, CA

Such an awesome outdoor center - very modern, very big! They have a lot of pop ups (including the Happy Place pop up from a prior post!) & outdoor workout possibilities for an active lunch break.

  • outdoor seating

  • free Wifi

  • lots of great shops & restaurants to grab food at

  • free parking for 1 hour, $3 for second, and $1 per hour after that

  • ticketless parking w/ Smart Parking

Something super different & awesome is that they have an occupancy calculator online so you can see how busy the center is and if you're comfortable with going!

If you know of any other great spots with free wifi & outdoor seating, send them my way & I'd love to add them! DM me on Instagram, @rachmakena xoxoxox
